Bird's-eye primrose (Primula farinosa):

This a real Dales' speciality, growing only in the Yorkshire and Durham Dales and parts of Cumbria. It is a plant which is found primarily in flushes where lime-rich water flows over the ground surface. The bird's-eye primrose has a delicate pink flower which is seen in May-June and its white powdery under leaves give it its other name of 'mealy primrose'.

Rockrose

Rockrose (Helianthemum nummularium):

A plant of unimproved limestone pastures, limestone pavements and outcrops. A woody stemmed plant, intolerant of heavy grazing, with bright yellow flowers which only open fully when the sun is out (Helianthemum means 'Sunflower' in Greek)

A member of the buttercup family which grows in the north of England. A plant of damp pastures, which has disappeared from much of the Dales as it is sensitive to drainage works, fertiliser and heavy grazing. Flowering in June-July the flowers are in the form of a complete yellow globe.
