Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority is the guardian of the National Park. It is one of 11 National Parks in England
and Wales. The purposes of the National Park are to conserve and enhance the natural
beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the area's special qualities and to
promote opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the area.

Natural England has been formed by bringing together English Nature, the landscape, access and
recreation elements of the Countryside Agency and the environmental land management
functions of the Rural Development Service.- A healthy natural environment: England’s natural environment will be conserved and enhanced

National Trust works to preserve and protect the coastline, countryside and buildings of England,
Wales and northern Ireland. This is achieved in a range of ways, through practical
caring and conservation, through educating and informing, and through encouraging
millions of people to enjoy their natural heritage. The National Trust cares for
thousands of hectares of countryside and over 200 buildings. Additionally they
have programmes in place to help educate people about the importance of the environment.

Grazing Animals Project was formed to aid the development of conservation grazing throughout the UK.
Its work includes the management of an advisory network to exchange 'best practice'
information about conservation grazing schemes; organisation of site meeting to
bring together practitioners involved in the management of land and animals; organisation
of specialist training courses; and the assimilation of data on conservation grazing
management and subsequent dissemination through reports and other publications.

Rare Breeds Survival Trust was formed in 1973 to reverse the trend towards extinction of a range of British
Farm animals. The Trust works to extend understanding of the genetic make-up of
individual breeds, to ensure the preservation of the widest possible range of
characteristics for possible future farming use. Its works include; surveys and
censuses of breed populations; buying animals from vulnerable bloodlines and maintaining
valuable stocks of genetic material; encouraging people to keep rare breeds; and
educating, promoting and informing through the national media, facts sheets and
other publications.

National Beef Association is the only specialist group dedicated solely to furthering the interests of
beef farmers and the beef industry. The organisation was founded in 1998 and is
recognised by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), the
European Commission and the Meat and Livestock Commission as the beef producer's
only specialist representative body.
